Mentalism is a term coined for those who employ Psychology, Showmanship, Magic, Suggestion and Misdirection, to achieve an effect that resembles the ability to read minds.

Dave isn’t a Psychic, he’ll be the first person to tell you that, but what he is, is a highly qualified Mentalist, with well over 30 years’ experience under his belt. If the art of Mentalism is something you are looking for (and it’s becoming a popular trend), then Dave really should be your first and only choice!

Let’s look at what Mentalism involves, and what you and your guests will experience.

Just for a second, imagine the following…

You are asked to write a freely chosen yet imaginary 4 digit Pin Number on a piece of card (we don’t want to use your real bank pin number for obvious reasons), and that card is then placed face down inside an envelope. The envelope is handed to you and kept safe between your hands, so only you know what is written on the card.

It would be impossible for anyone to know what you have written down, correct?

What if in just a few moments of looking into your eyes, Dave accurately reveals that very number even though you had the envelope in your possession the entire time?

Parlor Mentalism are performances that are designed on a smaller audience than that of the Stage. The Mentalist is usually standing on the same level as the audience. No stage is usually involved which means a full performance can be given in many different venues and at many different types of events.

Let’s say for a moment, Dave hands you a book and you have a completely free choice of a word on any page. The book is then put away and from this point onwards the word exists purely inside your mind.

After a moments pause, Dave begins to write a on a piece of card. You are then asked what is the word you are merely thinking of and upon hearing the answer, Dave shows you and everyone else the word he wrote on the card, matching yours exactly!

A typical Parlour act lasts around 30-45 minutes, filled with audience participation and moments you and your guests will never want to forget!

Stage Mentalism is very similar to Parlour, but is on a larger scale for usually a larger audience. This type of performance setting is perfect for Presentations. Gala’s, Variety Performances and much more. The major difference between Parlour and Stage Mentalism, is that Dave really likes to get as many people involved on the stage as possible!

Consider for a moment, Dave talks about his dream holiday and tells the audience that he wrote it down on a large piece of paper and sealed it inside an envelope which can be seen at all times. The audience can see the prediction through the envelope at all times.

A spectator is asked to call out the name of a cruise ship they would like to travel on, Dave then writes the answer down on a Clipboard for verification later on.

Another spectator is asked to call out a destination they would like to visit, again it is written down on the clipboard.

A third spectator is asked to count the change in their pocket and the amount is again written down on the clipboard. This spectator comes on stage to verify each of the items called out. The envelope is shown and opened, the audience can see the prediction fall out of the envelope and the spectator reads the prediction which matches EXACTLY what the audience chose.
